Organized Play

The term Organized Play refers to the official promotional play structure provided directly by a game's publisher. This can range from a few freebies given away at promotional in-store game days, to a complete tier system from in-store demos and casual matches through to the World Championship and Professional Tour (as provided by 'Wizards of the Coast' for the 'Magic: The Gathering' trading card game).

Dungeons & Dragons

Pokemon TCG (Trading Card Game)

Pokémon tournaments take place at stores worldwide, and offer a competitive atmosphere where trainers can meet each other in a friendly match. Players bring their own 60-card deck and compete to establish a better understanding of the game, the strengths and weaknesses of their Pokémon and themselves as players. Ratings and rankings are achieved based on individual match wins and losses in sanctioned Pokémon tournament play.

"To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem."
