Tantrix has become world renown as an elegant and addictive strategy game for 2-4 players. The latest edition is called the "Game Pack" and represents 15 years of game development. It contains the award winning multi-player game and enough solitaire puzzles and activities to last a lifetime. The set consists of 56 unique black tiles, all numbered and colour-coded on the reverse side, a practical colour travel bag and a new edition of the 50 page illustrated activity guide. Inside you'll find:
The Discovery is our most addictive puzzle creation yet! As a progressively challanging solitaire activity it was singled out from the Game Pack to provide the "perfect introduction to Tantrix". The concept is simple: Ten tiles numbered on the reverse from 1 to 10. Start with three tiles, then slowly increase the difficulty by adding more tiles - it's guaranteed to hook you.
Contains 10 hexagonal tiles in a wood or chrome stand. The puzzle is designed to sit on your coffee table and drive your guests to distraction. Also available in a black mesh bag. The Discovery is the best way to learn about Tantrix concepts and improve your spatial skills. This is the puzzle to start with!
Tantrix Xtreme is a more fiendish alternative to the Discovery, mainly aimed at keen puzzlers or experienced Tantrix players. It contains eight Discovery-type loop puzzles with an extra twist: no colour clue is given for each level. Two new tricky pyramid puzzles are added that provide an even greater challenge.
A lightweight travel version of the popular game pack, inspired by the inventor's mountaineering friends. A full Tantrix pack weighs around half a kilo, and after carrying a standard set to high altitudes in the Himalayas, there had been demands for an "alpine" edition which just couldn't be ignored!
The new pocket edition contains all the puzzles and games of the standard-sized set, yet only weighs 120 grams. The tiles are still hand painted and made from virtually unbreakable synthetic plastic. It's handy size and light weight makes it the perfect set for posting or travelling overseas.
Tantrix Match is an addictive new concept combining the geometry and beauty of the Tantrix game with the deductive logic of sudoku. To play, a card is placed into the tray, the starting tiles are copied and the puzzle is solved by fitting the remaining tiles to make all colours match.
With over 22 million puzzles possible, the difficulty of each puzzle depends on the number and location of preplaced tiles. The Family version of Match consists of a wooden tray, 13 tiles and 12 "family" puzzle cards, ranging in difficulty from easy to extreme.
If you enjoy Tantrix Discovery, then you will love the Solitaire which is a deluxe version of our classic Discovery puzzle. The puzzle runs from 3 tiles up to 14 tiles (instead of 10). The tiles themselves are slightly larger, about four times the weight of standard tiles, and subtly curved on the top and bottom surfaces. Apart from classic loop puzzles, you can play the Solitaire version of Tantrix, which is "half a puzzle, half a game".
Tantrix Solitaire comes in four different editions, each with their own three-colour combination of links. The tiles of each set are numbered from 1 to 14. Combining all four editions together creates a full large-tile set of Tantrix needed to play the multiplayer game.
The magnetic set is aimed at Tantrix addicts who just can't get enough of the game and want to be able to play it anytime, anywhere. The Game Pack with its larger tiles is generally peoples' first choice for playing Tantrix. Magnetic Tantrix is best used when there is no table to play on, when you are on the move, when playing a 'delayed' game where players make moves every once in a while, or when you want to save your attempts at the hardest puzzles to come back to at a later stage.
The set contains 56 magnetised tiles, instructions, a cloth bag to hold tiles not in play and a solid metal playing board. Magnetic Tantrix offers you all the fun of the Tantrix Game Pack in a package for players on the go!
Trax is an abstract strategy game created nearly 30 years ago by a prolific Christchurch inventor, David Smith. The game consists of 64 square tiles painted on both sides.
As in Tantrix, the objective is to create loops or lines of your colour while thwarting your opponent. However there are crucial differences. In Trax all tiles are identical, whereas in Tantrix every tile is unique. The game is designed for two players (although there is a solitaire option). Finally there is no luck involved, so unlike Tantrix, the best player should always win.
Hive is a brilliant game of strategy for two played with highly tactile pieces. The aim of the game is to be the first player to surround your opponent's Queen Bee using a team of assorted creatures of both your own and your opponent's colour.
Because each creature has its own way of moving about the Hive, the game is sometimes called 'nature's chess', yet simpler rules, no need for a board and an added dimension make it a far more flexible and accessible game that can be played anywhere. Simply great fun!
A Hive set contains 22 chunky tiles (measuring 43 mm from tip to tip), an illustrated rules leaflet, a quick reference card and a travel bag.
