Clifton Road Games still carries a range of Confrontation metal miniatures. We will maintain support for in-store Third Edition games and to stock the metal range for as long as it remains practical to do this through the established retail supply chain.
However, we will not be stocking, selling or, quite frankly, having anything at all to do with the new 'Confrontation: Age of Ragnarok' pre-painted plastic miniatures or the associated revised game. Rackham murdered a perfectly fine gaming system and I really feel no pressing need to risk getting further burned by them.
Clifton Road Games is a RETAIL GAMES SHOP built around a large in-store games area. We carry stock. We promote these games in-store and within an extended local gaming community. As retailers and gamers, we get both financially and emotionally stung when a miniatures company makes bizarre unilateral announcements, abandoning an existing game system and provoking a massive over-night devaluation of their products.
We will continue to support Confrontation (3rd Ed.) for as long as people are still willing to play it locally, whilst seeking to avoid getting caught out by Rackham or any other games company that appears driven by the now depressingly common, "Promise them shiny things. Take their money and run." business model.
Perhaps an idealistic, overly romantic viewpoint but hand-painted metal miniatures represent and encourage an investment of time, money, skill, attention to detail and an on-going commitment to a hobby. Pre-painted plastics are 'just toys', quickly forgotten in the endless market driven quest to follow the newest, shiniest, trendiest fashion.
