Clifton Road Games has been hiding in a side street near the centre of Exeter since early 2004, providing a central gaming space, supported by a traditional retail presence. The store range of Board, Card, Miniature and Roleplaying Games has grown over the years with thousands of lines now regularly in stock. The games area has half a dozen 8' tables with comfortable seating for 40+ players.
Clifton Road Games is primarily a Bricks & Mortar retail store and games venue. We are happy to supply in-stock items by post, operating an on-line shopping cart through this website, accepting payments via PayPal, and keeping our mail-order business small and personal.
The 2017 Edition ...
- New website
- New systems
- New staff
All Game Stores are in some sense ongoing projects - frequently ones that have taken on a life of their own - and we took the decision to spend 2017 changing and updating as much of Clifton Road Games as possible.
Long overdue, stuck in development hell for almost a year, and finally making a leap towards completion in December (which is technically still in-line with our goal of having all the major changes to the business in place by the end of 2017). All I can say is that, nothing highlights just how stretched to capacity you are like taking on just one more project.
Now that it is here, we hope that you like it.
The Shop: We have already upgraded our EPOS System, which will now talk directly to the website, keeping our on-line presence much more consistent with the wide range available in store at any given moment. Eventually, the full catalogue of 4,000+ lines should be current and up-to-date on the website.
The Games Room: An on-going project in its own right, has recently been reorganised, gained air-conditioning, a large screen (to assist with event management and for showing games demos), the giant Meeple has a new coat of Carcassonne Blue paint, the pirate has moved, and we've hung some severed monster heads on the wall. Further developments are expected soon-ish.
If 2017 has highlighted any one thing above everything else, it is that Clifton Road Games has simply grown too big to continue to operate as a (largely) solo endeavour.
Over the last fourteen years we have relied (at times heavily) on Family and Friends in order to establish and grow the business. It is now time to move forward, so Rebecca is now in charge of the day-to-day running of the shop.
